Excitement continues to build at The Sands as construction of the new Mitre 10 MEGA Pāpāmoa reaches another major milestone.
The impressive new store is taking shape quickly. Every week brings noticeable progress as contractors work steadily towards a mid-October 2026 opening, marking the next stage in the growth of The Sands.
Once complete, the purpose-built store will be more than twice the size of the current Mitre 10 Pāpāmoa, delivering an expanded range of products, a larger garden centre, drive-through trade facilities and a Columbus Coffee café — all designed to better serve one of New Zealand's fastest-growing communities.
The new MEGA store will also create more than 80 local jobs and become a key destination within Stage Two of The Sands development, helping shape a thriving retail and commercial hub for Pāpāmoa East.
For locals driving past the site, it's exciting to see just how far the project has come in recent months. What was once a construction site is rapidly transforming into a landmark destination that will anchor the next chapter of The Sands.
